Telstra has launched a new series of television commercials, “Call Mum”, directed by feature film director Gregor Jordan who has recently signed up with Prodigy Films. The campaign, online at www.callmum.net, tugs on the guilt strings of young Australian adults.
I’ll Just Get Your Mother
A young woman stuck in traffic calls up her parents on her hands free mobile phone. Dad (John Jarratt), who’s working on a car in the garage, answers. There’s an attempt at deep and meaningful conversation before we’re introduced to the tag line, “Call Mum”.

The Telstra marketing team behind the campaign includes director of brand and advertising Chantal Walker, executive director Amanda Johnston-Pell, group manager for advertising Jodie Rochetich, advertising manager Melanie Keating, marketing manager (Brands and advertising) Elvira Franco.
The Call Mum campaign was developed at BWM Sydney by executive creative director Rob Belgiovane, creative director Rocky Ranallo, senior copywriter Jenny Barnett, group account director Bard Barber, account director Charles Skelton, account manager Lisa Fitzgerald, head of onscreen production Damian Whitney.

Gregor Jordan is known for his films Two Hands, Buffalo Soldiers, Ned Kelly, and The Informers. His latest film, The Informers, premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival February 2009. The Informers is an American ensemble film written by Bret Easton Ellis, author of American Psycho and features all-star cast starring Bill Bob Thornton, Winona Ryder, Kim Basinger and Mickey Rourke.
