Taylor Swift has won the Best Female Video award at the MTV Video Music Awards, beating Beyonce, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry, and annoying Kanye West no end! As Swift launched into her acceptance speech Kanye West jumped on the stage to protest, saying that Beyonce’s music video for Single Ladies was one of the best music videos of all time. Swift went on to perform “You Belong With Me” live on stage, in a set representing the streets of New York.
Swift plays both the nerdy blonde bespectacled neighbor and the brunette girlfriend of a high school football star (Lucas Till). The music video explores the “girl next door” syndrome in which potential love is only discovered on the dance floor.
