Stihl Chainsaw Bequeathed on Deathbed

Stihl chainsaws are being pushed in a controversial television commercial released in New Zealand, raising the ire of some viewers, but amusing others. New Zealand television channel TV3 has reported on the concerns being raised about the appropriateness of staging a joke on the deathbed of an old man.

The Deathbed scene was developed at DDB New Zealand by creative director Toby Talbot, copywriter Simon Vicars, art director James Tucker, and agency producer Judy Thompson.

    STHIL has a problem. If the chainsaw, the product with STHIL’s name on it which they are wanting to sell, has as much integrity as the deceptive and lying son -- who would buy it?
