The opening ceremony of COP15, the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, included “Please Help the World”, a short film commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.

A young girl wakes up from a nightmare about climate change and works with her father to do something about it. High on special effects, emotional engagement (child and teddy bear), and high on connection with social media. The short film is being used on YouTube to build awareness of a live debate on climate change hosted by CNN and YouTube.

As you say, the use of children tugs at the heart strings and gets them and their parents motivated to take part in the campaign. However this is doing very little to address the misgivings of climate sceptics.
