Oktapodi in Great Escape

Oktapodi, one of the nominations for Best Short Film (Animated) at the Academy Awards 2009, was developed by a team of French animators in 2007. The 180 second film tells the story of two octopuses living on a Greek island.

Two octopuses help each other in their comical escape from the grasp of a stubborn restaurant cook. However, even after overcoming insurmountable odds to reunite, their fight to stay together is not over.

Animation was directed by a team of students at Gobelins L’Ecole de L’Image, Paris, each with their own blog: Julien Bocabeille, François Xavier Chanioux, Olivier Delabarre, Thierry Marchand, Quentin Marmier and Emud Mokhberi. Music is by Kenny Wood. Violinist was Dorthy Kwon. Sound was designed by Vincent Hazard and mixed by Julien Alves.
