British telecommunications group O2 is promoting its Top Up Surprises offer with a television, online, print and outdoor advertising campaign featuring yellow rubber ducks. Every time an 02 Pay & Go customer tops up their mobile they are given a code which allows them to play a game of hook a duck at www.02.co.uk/surprises and have the chance to win anything from free texts to LCD TVs and laptops. (For those who are having trouble entering their code, go to the Surprises site, click on “Play Now” and you’ll find a screen where you can enter a mobile phone number and code. Tick on the image beside the text “I agree to the terms and conditions”. Now click on “Log In”. )
The tag line used across the campaign is “Surprises of all sizes, every time you top up”.
March of the Ducks
The TV advert shows the journey of the campaign’s rubber ducks from the Antarctic to the Amazon and finally to a pond in the UK where they are hooked by a fisherman.

Pedestrians will notice specially fitted bus stops with panels filled with water and ducks that quack as they walk past, thanks to their sonic sensors.
O2 have developed an exclusive tie-up with the social networking site, Bebo, in which members who become friends with ‘O2 Top-up Surprises’ will be able to win ‘luv’ by spotting hidden ducks around the Bebo site.

on two occasions i won £150 of concierge travel. i have two messages on my mobile phone stating that the surprise will be sent to my e mail e mail address. rubbish i have never recieved them. I am enquiring taking legal action. 02 should not get away with this.

O2 surprises is the biggest load of shite ever. I have free calls and texts so guess what? I only ever get free calls and texts -- No Surprise. I’ve had over 40 gold surprises and so far jackshite. O2 are full of it. Somebody should contact watchdog. As far as I’m concerned it’s a scam.

Never receive the prizes promised -- eventually got £10 top up after pestering o2 customer services continually; have now tried again and always seem to be timed out, etc. The most irritating campaign ever -- especially having to listen to their rubbish promoting it when trying to top up.

Im very dissapointed with the whole o2 surprises site. Why offer a service when it doesn’t even work. I have three codes in my phone and can’t use them. What a waste of time. If you can’t provide a service then why offer it? This is really bad marketing for o2.

never been able to get on the surprise web site i am thinking that the adverts are a trade discription issue and am now considering after 8 years of use of going to another supplier. its not the prizes that worry me i think sometimes we are continually misled by companies to gain our confidence only to get a smack in the teeth.

I won printing of 50 digital photos for free from O2 surprises, but..this was just trap -- cause the site load some questionnaire to submit first my Bank account data,sort code..
Ive email O2 5 times now even rang Customer Service and they swore down the issue would be fixed. YES that was aggggggggggg 8 weeks ago. 6 emails and 1 call and its still not working in my last email i even told them i was sick of the shabby service and was going to move network unless someone contacted me about the service. Not only do you not get the ducks but now sometimes the service keeps crashing all round. Ive been with O2 since the days of it being BT CELLNET and over the course of the last 6 months the service has got worse. If anyone for O2 reads this SORT IT PLEASE.

This is the second month I have played this stupid game. I have been aiminmg at the target for half an hour and got nowhere. This is a complete con and not something I would have expected from O2. What is the point of promoting prizes which you obviously have no intention of letting anyone win. It is making me seriously consider changing provider!!!
