Mitre 10 Little Boys DIY
New Zealand hardware store Mitre 10 celebrates the country’s commitment to “Do It Yourself” culture with “Sandpit”, a television commercial featuring two New Zealand boys and a representative Australian mate. The ad, along with Classroom, has become one of the most popular spots on New Zealand television, rerpresenting Kiwi values, ingenuity, and give-it-a-go attitude. Two little boys in the playground talk about getting together in the weekend to do some work. One of the boys talks the other into going beyond “getting a bloke in”. Together they ask the Wallaby jersey wearing Jonesy for some help. “You’re dreaming!”, the Australian says. “DIY’s in our DNA”, says the voice over.
A teacher reads out the names of the children in her classroom, all of them with Do It Yourself related puns.
