Lullaby the UNICEF Anthem
‘Lullaby: The UNICEF Anthem, a new composition by UNICEF Canada Ambassador Steve Barakatt, was launched recently at the International Space Station. The lullaby underlines the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, signed on November the 20th of 1989 at the United Nations.
The Anthem was composed to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Produced in collaboration with other UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, musicians and video artists from around the globe, Lullaby is dedicated to the world’s children and the realization of their rights. Mr. Barakatt also directed this music video featuring stirring images from UNICEF’s photography archive.
The Anthem was performed on November by Radio France Symphonic orchestra and Steve Barakatt himself.
‘Lullaby:The Unicef Anthem’ had its extraterrestrial premiere at the International Space Station, thanks to support from European Space Agency and NASA. ESA astronaut – and UNICEF Belgium Ambassador – Frank De Winne was able to watch ‘The Anthem’ video directed by Mr. Barakatt on his laptop aboard the Space Station at the invitation of UNICEF Belgium. The ESA video-recorded astronaut and Anthem orbiting hundreds of kilometres above the earth in a gesture of support for the world’s children…and their inalienable rights.
