Lavatory Love Story
Love is always sudden – you never know when or where it might strike. This 9 minute, 15 seconds short film from Melnitsa Animation in St Petersburg explores the quest of a cleaning lady for love in her workplace. The film is one of the nominations for Best Short Film (Animated) Oscar at the Academy Awards 2009.
A woman sits at the entrance of a public toilet, reading her newspaper, waiting for 12 noon and dreaming of love. Her mayonnaise jar, used for collecting tips from the male patrons, becomes the focus of an anonymous admirer as he leaves flowers.
Lavatory Love Story animation was directed by Konstantin Bronzit via Melnitsa Animation Studio, St Petersburg, with producers Alexander Boyarsky and Sergey Selyakov. Music is by Valentin Vassenkov. Sound was designed by Vladimir Golounin.
