American hip hop rapper Jay-Z collaborated with R&B and soul singer-songwriter Alicia Keys to produce “Empire State of Mind”, the single and music video celebrating New York City. The track includes a sample from “Love on a Two-Way Street” by The Moments.

Filming for the Empire State of Mind music video was directed by Hype Williams, shot on October 1, 2009, in Harlem, Times Square and around Ground Zero of New York City. Williams worked with producer Abdur Rahman at Naa’ila and cinematographer John Perez. The track was originally written by New Yorkers Angela Hunte and Jane’t “Jnay” Sewell-Ulepic.
