    Orcon set out to find 8 New Zealanders to help American songwriter/singer Iggy Pop (The Godfather of Punk) re-record ‘The Passenger’ live via Orcon Broadband. From more than 200 auditions they ended up with 9 New Zealanders to be hooked up with Iggy in Miami via Orcon Broadband. Auditions were called for on the Orcon Facebook page and release on the Orcon Auditions YouTube channel.

    The campaign began with two 15 second television commercials, outdoor posters and an online presence on Facebook and YouTube.

    The live performance was recorded on October 30 and released on November 16. The nine players chosen were drummer Stephanie Engelbrecht, guitarist Ra Inta, guitarist Ben Jurisich (Mexican wrestling mask), mariba player Takumi Motokawa, shirtless drummer Tia Beaufort, bass player Daniel Tate, flautist/pianist Miho Wada, cellist Charley Davenport, and guitarist Sam Logan.

    The Iggy Pop campaign was developed at Special Group, Auckland, by creative directors Tony Bradbourne and Rob Jack, partner Michael Redwood and agency producer Sascha Mortimer.
