Hugh Hefner in Guitar Hero
Hugh Hefner appears in the most recent Guitar Hero take on the Risky Business gag, continuing the World Tour references to Tom Cruise’s air guitar routine in the 1983 film Risky Buiness. (See my earlier post). Bob Seger’s track, “Old Time Rock and Roll”, is interpreted much more literally with the 83 year old being surrounded by ten blonde air guitarists.
“What? I like variety”, says the playboy, a reference to both the new range of songs available with Guitar Hero 5, and the number of women he tends to date at one time. The game lets fans rock any way they want and includes a limited time two-for-one offer of the unreleased Guitar Hero Van Halen game with every purchase of Guitar Hero 5.

The Hugh Hefner spot was developed at Crispin Porter + Bogusky by creative directors Steve Babcock and Conor McCann, creatives Craig Mandell and Jon Mueller, and agency producer Aymi Beltramo.
Filming was shot by director Brett Ratner via HSI Productions Los Angeles with director of photography Jeff Cronenweth and producer Ron Mohrhoff. Ratner directed the earlier World Tour series, and is also directing Playboy, a biopic on the life Hugh Hefner.
