Google Goggles Visual Search for Android Phones

Google has launched a new visual search app for Android phones: Google Goggles. Users of the application are able to search online for information by taking a picture of objects with their camera phone. The app is in its early stages, and will only recognise certain objects. However the promotional YouTube video is capturing plenty of interest.

Hartmut Neven, one of the developers of the image recognition software, and Shailesh Nalawadi, product manager at Google, try the application out on a book, a business card, a Frida painting, the Golden Gate Bridge, and a set of buildings in 14th St, New York.
