Doritos Crystal Ball, a user generated commercial, the winner of the 2009 Crash the Super Bowlcontest, was named the top spot in the US Today Ad Meter this year. The team behind the spot won $1 million for their efforts. It’s a reward for perseverance for the Herbert brothers, as their “Duct Tape” spot took them to the top five finalists in the 2007 competition.
The “Free Doritos” spot features two men in an office using a snow globe to predict the future. The tall guy, played by Steve Booth, uses the snow globe to work out if the office will have free Doritos, moments before throwing the globe into a nearby vending machine. Just right for the financial crisis! The shorter guy, played by David P. Hyden, asks the globe if he’ll finally get that promotion, before hurling it towards the door, with painful results.
