Environmental action group This Is Reality critiques political rhetoric on clean coal in this spoof spot directed by the Coen Brothers, Joel and Ethan Coen.
A polished salesman introduces a family to “Clean Coal Air Freshener”, a product in an aerosol can with the ability to make the air just that little bit cleaner (not). According to This Is Reality the coal industry has spent millions misleading people into thinking their product is “clean.” In reality, they claim, burning coal is responsible for a third of America’s carbon pollution – the chief cause of global warming – and not a single coal plant in America captures and safely stores this pollution.
