Charity Water used March 22, World Water Day, to encourage $20 donations to help give one person clean drinking water, using a highly promoted YouTube video. Directed by Simon Willows, the video features the well-drilling work in Central African Republic, accompanied by “Time Bomb”, Beck’s 2007 single.

In 1992, the United Nations designated March 22nd as World Water Day, aiming to highlight and raise awareness about the global water and sanitation crisis affecting the planet. Charity Water was founded in 2004 by Scott Harrison, a response to more than 1 billion people on the planet who don’t have access to clean drinking water. The organisation funds clean water solutions such as shallow wells, deep wells, rainwater harvesting systems, and spring protections.
