Australian Open Tennis on the World’s Biggest Stage

The Australian Open 2009, the Grand Slam tennis tournament of Asia/Pacific is expanding its tennis program and off-court entertainment to unprecedented levels for what is already the biggest sporting event in the world in January. The tournament, running from January 19 to February 1, is promoted in this star-studded 2009 television commercial.

The tagline, “The World’s Biggest Stage”, is played out in a range of visually doctored shots of well known tennis stars along with crowd scenes from the Rod Laver Arena and Hisense Arena in Melbourne.

The Open Stage campaign was developed at McCann Erickson, Melbourne, by creative directors Vince McSweeney and Alf Lee, art director Pat Langton, copywriter James Cowie and agency producer Christina Dess.
