Audi Chase Through Decades
Audi’s 2009 Super Bowl spot, The Chase, stars actor Jason Statham in a desperate journey through time, getting away from thugs, bad fashion and under performing cars. Statham, known for his roles in the Transporter series (2002, 2005, 2008), Snatch (2000) and The Bank Job (2008), looks for a luxury sports car that will help him in his getaway. He tries a Mercedes 280SE 4.5 from the 1970s, and a BMW from the 1980s. The going is only smooth when he gets in the supercharged Audi A6 sedan. “Progress is beautiful”. Costuming, lighting, film stock and period-specific vehicles were used to recreate the feel of car chase movies and television series from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
