Adidas Zidane looking for The Spark

Adidas has launched an international TV advertising campaign featuring former French football captain Zinedine Zidane seeking to uncover the “spark” behind the talent of 21 year old Barcelona star Lionel Messi. Drawing inspiration from comic book hero stories and film noir, the television and online campaign promotes the teamwork behind the Adidas F50i football boot.

Zidane appears as a mysterious figure in a dark hood looking for the Spark, first with Messi, but later with other football stars.

Zidane investigates Messini’s origins in Argentina, exploring the possibility that a spark of electricity started the star’s track to greatness. And so it begins…

The Spark campaign was developed at 180 Amsterdam by creative directors Richard Bullock and Andy Fackrell, copywriter Peter Albores, art director Martin Terhart, design director Julian Wade and senior producer Joe Togneri.

Filming was shot in Barcelona by director Rupert Sanders via MJZ with executive producer Debbie Turner, producer Nell Jordan and director of photography Alwin Kuchler.

Editor was Neil Smith at Work Post, London, with producer Jane Dillworth.

Online Edit/SFX was done at The Mill, London, by producers Matt Williams and Darren O’Kelly, shoot supervisor Jimmy Kiddel, colorist Adam Scott, Flame artists Richard de Carteret and Gary Driver.

Sound was designed and mixed by Alex Nicholls- Lee at Wave Recording Studios, Amsterdam.

Music was produced by Daniel Cross at Record-Play/SkinnerBrothers.
