Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating system comes with a wide range of wallpapers, including a set commissioned by 72 and Sunny. Inspired by their neighbours in Zune, the Windows 7 team sought illustrators from around the world who could cover the broad diversity offered in the system while maintaining a common thread. Twelve artists were eventually chosen and commissioned to create art that was light, energetic, inspiring and optimistic. The images were shaped to flow under the new task bar and strike the balance between visually compelling and not to distracting from the tasks associated with the computer desktop.
