Wrangler Jeans are being promoted in France with one spooky advertising campaign, “We Are Animals”. Topless men and women wearing only jeans are filmed in wild settings behaving like animals.

The Wrangler campaign was developed at FFL Paris, France, by executive creative directors Fred & Farid (Frederic Raillard and Farid Mokart), art directors/copywriters Julie Louison and Perinne Durand, copywriters Baptiste Clinet, Nicolas Lautier, Philippe Pinel, Frederick Lung, agency supervisors Daniel Dormeyer, Brani Branitcheva, Vassilios Basos, Paola Bersi, advertiser supervisors Giorgio Presca, Mark Cuthbert, Gary Burnand, Carmen Claes, and agency producers Robin Accard and Yann Yap. The Fred & Farid website includes 100 executions of the “We Are Animals” concept.

Filming was shot by Ryan McGinley, known for his nude films. (See my earlier post on the Sigur Ros Gobbledigook music video directed by Ryan McGinley. Editors were Yannis Rachid and Fredric Theodore.

    My first impression from this campaign was that it was an homage to the final scenes of “Apocalypse Now” -- rugged, animalistic, hard-worn, tough, and lasting.
