Symphony in Red for Konzerthaus Dortmund
Konzerthaus Dortmund, Dortmund Philharmonic Concert Hall, promoted its 2006/07 season with Symphony in Red, a study in typography in swirling movements of red liquid. A white room is transformed by what appears to be swirls of blood, forming the names of artists, responding to the music and developing abstract interpretations of mood.
Artists are named: German virtuoso violinist Anne Sophie Mutter, Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel, French violinist Renaud Capuçon, Turkish/German pianist Fazil Say, French conductor Marc Minkowski, Italian mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli, Bulgarian opera singer Vesselina Kasarova, English violinist Nigel Kennedy, Finnish composer Jean Sibelius, Romanian composer György Ligeti, New York based Emerson String Quartet, Austrian Wiener Philharmoniker (Vienna), Cincinatti Symphony Orchestra, French cellist Yo-Yo-Ma, Chinese pianist Yundi Li.
