Pink Floyd Back in Town for Polar Prize
Pink Floyd were presented with 2008 Polar Music Prize by Sweden’s King Carl XVI Gustaf on August 26, in recognition of their contribution to popular music. Also receiving the awards was American soprano Renee Fleming. Nick Mason and Roger Waters were there to receive the award, giving apologies for David Gilmour and Richard Wright. Wright died weeks later. Sweden’s Channel 4 promoted the screening of the award with a series of three print advertisements paying tribute to three Pink Floyd albums: Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and Animals.
