Philips developed the Satinelle Ice Epilator to address the pain involved in removing hair out of a woman’s leg. The device uses an ice-pack attachment (that you put in the freezer the night before) to numb the leg, making epilation a far gentler process. To demonstrate how painless this process is, DDB London recruited transvestite model Karis to pose for the camera a demonstration of smooth legs.

James, aka Karis, aged 25, says, “Being a man I can’t take pain, so I use a Satinelle Ice Epilator.” The story is continued in a commercial directed by Frederik Bond.
