Nissan Dualis Half and Half

Nissan has launched the Dualis in Australia with a TV advertising campaign featuring creative work by UK film director Tony Kaye. The DUALIS is being promoted as the world’s first true compact cross-over design of a sporty hatchback and an SUV. The Half and Half spot plays on the ‘two cars in one’ concept. The ad uses an approach consistent with a Playstation advert – fantasy, mix and match faces…

The campaign combines television advertising with outdoor cinema advertising at Nissan Moonlight Cinemas, together with sponsorship of the Seven Network’s It Takes Two (a convenient fit with the ‘two cars in one’ concept).

A great example of a boardroom concept that fails to reach the consumer. Personally I found this advert slightly disturbing, and failed to convey any of the car’s features. It looks like a cheap cabaret act – the tryhard “edgy” edits and predictable soundtrack do nothing but perpetuate Nissan’s stale image.
