Mitsubishi follows up the introduction of the FQ badge on the Lancer (F’ing Quick) with a television commercial full of sexual inuendo, filmed in New Zealand.

A male driver is flummoxed when his son asks him where he came from. What follows is a celebration of the facts of life in visual imagery as the car weaves its way through tunnels and so on. The spot’s atmosphere is enhanced by Dean Martin’s version of the Birds and the Bees. Finally the boy tells his dad, “That’s so cool Dad, cause Jimmy Johnson only comes from Scotland”.

This reminds me of a 1990s McDonald’s ad in which a father is faced with the possibility of telling his daughter the facts of life and tries to put her off by taking her to McDonald’s.
