Kuntz Manor

Today’s Site of the Day is Kuntz Manor, the personal archive of Tom Kuntz, commercial and music video director represented globally with MJZ and in Canada with Suneeva.

Kuntz Manor

Kuntz has many of his commercials and videos available for viewing, stored in FLV and viewed in Flash. They include the Axe Chocolate Man, Fedex Pigeons and Chameleons, the weird and wonderful Skittles ads (Touch, Pinata Man, Beard, Trade (Singing Rabbit), Leak), the California Milk One Gallon Axe, Altoids Fruit Pants, Dell’s Colors, Tooheys Tall Men from Australia, Virgin Mobile Paygoism and Christmahanakwanzaka, and Starbucks Bleachers, to name a few…

Music videos are included from Tom’s work with LCD Soundsystem (All My Friends), Australian bands Bumblebeez (Dr Love) and The Avalanches (Frontier Psychiatrist), and Detroit band Electric Six (High Voltage).

Check out the four short films: Tokyo Breakfast, Santasm, Tanqueray’s Globe Probe, and Beez Lapse. And for the curious, the archive section contains Tom’s selection of photographs and sketches.

The Tom Kuntz Story

Kuntz started in the creative industry as art director at Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, forming an effective partnership with copywriter Mike Maguire.

Kuntz and Maguire had both grown up in suburban Massachusetts, joined the US Peace Corps where they organised raves in Somalia, and then formed an electronica group called Natuurkunde (Dutch for ‘science class’).

The creative team became a directing team working with Propaganda/Satellite Films (now Independent Films) for two years before joining Morton Jankel Zander in 2001.

In his earlier years Tom designed temporary “prison ink” tattoos for the “New York” Issues of Dazed and Confused magazine, authored several feature-length screenplays, and moonlighted as a DJ for various events and charity functions.
