Tower Hamlets Borough Council in London is raising public awareness of domestic violence with a TV advert that links living together with the chances of being hurt. Domestic violence is a significant problem in Tower Hamlets, with the police dealing with an average of eleven incidents every day.
The ad opens with the familiar UK custom of tying tin cans to the back of the vehicle carrying the bride and groom away from the wedding reception. The ad finishes with a truck hoarding tells us that two women a week are killed by partners or ex partners. “Domestic Violence, No Excuse”.

Tower Hamlets Council is committed to working in partnership with statutory and community organisations to prevent domestic violence and reduce the harm it causes to individuals, families and the community as a whole.
