Ferrari in Italy is launching the new “California” at the Paris Motor Show in October. However, in the meantime, interested fans can take the car for a test drive online at www.ferarricalifornia.com
Visitors to the California Teaser site are able to listen to the sounds of the new car, see its features displayed, and feel by watching movies of the V8 two door “2+2″ hard top convertible in a virtual environment, before trying the car out for themselves. It’s an experience that will be familiar to anyone who’s played in a Gran Turismo game, right down to the loading time.
However, to get the full appreciation of the 7-speed dual clutch transmission, folding metal roof, multi-link rear suspension and direct petrol injection, plan to be at the Paris Motor Show between October 4 and 19.
The digital campaign for Ferrari was developed, filmed and animated at AKQA, London.
Radium Audio looked after the audio post production, recording the sound of the car, both driving and stationary. To do so they needed to spend time in Marenello, Italy, taking the new Ferrari California through different rev ranges, different types of road handling, travelling at speeds of up to 200 km/h with microphones all over the car. They ended their stint there by recording the sound of features such as doors opening and closing and ignition.
