Esther James walked to Buy Kiwi Made

The New Zealand Government Ministry of Economic Development is celebrating a centenary of buying New Zealand made with Esther James, a woman who went to extraordinary lengths for the cause. Esther was the first recorded woman to walk the entire length of New Zealand. She did it wearing New Zealand made clothes and eating New Zealand made food. She gained great publicity for the cause and raised the spirits of a nation struggling through the Great Depression. This ad reminds people that while Esther walked 1600 miles to support Buy Kiwi Made, these days, they only have to walk to the shops.
