Dunlop Volleys Exceptionally Average

Dunlop Volleys (the white tennis shoes) are being promoted in Australia with a viral campaign, “Exceptionally Average”, in which Gerry Phillips, a manualist plays songs using only his hands. Manualism or hand music is the little-known art of playing music by squeezing air through the hands. The campaign is online at www.volleys.com.au and at an Exceptionally Average YouTube channel.

The Exceptionally Average campaign was developed at Marilyn & Sons, Melbourne, by creative director/copywriter Kristian Jamieson, creative director/copywriter Gavin Willemson, art director/copywriter Martin Brown, copywriter Benjamin David John Hammond and agency producer Lisa Ramsey. Jamieson and Willemson describe the campaign as a portrayal of the exceptionally average for an exceptionally average shoe -- the humble Dunlop Volley.

Filming was shot by director Robby Douglas Turner via Zealot Films, Melbourne.
