Commonwealth Bank Americans just don’t get Cricket
Here’s the next instalment in the Commonwealth Bank advertising campaign, developed by Goodby Silverstein & Partners. Two US-based advertising creatives from fictitious agency Luke & Luke arrange to meet with Australian cricketer Mike Hussey and the Australian team in Adelaide for their research. The byline: “We love cricket so we sponsor it.” The campaign is online at lovecricket.com.au
Two commercials, “Cricket Research” and “Cricket vs Sport” are supplemented by a “Behind the Scenes” film. Mike Hussey is asked, “Do people really like cricket?” If it was a sport then people might hurry?” And what if they rigged up a kangaroo with the full gear – batsman’s gloves, hat?
The Commonwealth Bank Cricket campaign was developed at Goodby Silverstein & Partners by executive creative directors Bill Chesley, Rich Silverstein and Steve Simpson, creative directors Rick Condos And Hunter Hindman, copywriters Pat McKay and Chris Beresford-Hill, art director Feh Tarty, and Will Hammond, agency producers Barbro Eddy and Jake Grand, account supervisors Brian Dunbar (AD), Mary Ferris and Sarah Davies (AM).
