Surely Microsoft were aware that an advert like this was going to be banned. The relationship between viewers and advertisers regarding video games is very love-hate. I can remember a past incident where Microsoft's first X-Box advert depicting a person's 'life' over a short length of time, with birth, life and death occurring in quick succession causing widespread upset. Sony were no better, with a Playstation 2 ad showing a car crash and a Primeval video game ad (nothing to do with the British T.V. series) showing a woman's face turning into an animal's face both got the chop, but the Ghost Hunter ad set in a girl's bedroom was saved as the campaign ended before the British Advertising Standards Authority could take action. It's time for advertisers to think really carefully in future video game console advertising.
