UNICEF Canada, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Hamburg Society are using Halloween to promote The Schools for Africa programme, a partnership providing access to basic education for 2 million children in six African nations (Angola, Malawi, Mozambique, Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe).

This year, the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign is focusing on helping children in Rwanda and Malawi by raising funds to build schools and sanitation facilities, provide exercise books, pens and other school material. UNICEF will also train teachers on child-friendly teaching methods and work with governments to strengthen policy and curriculum.
