Taco Bell Lions Talk Carne Asada

Taco Bell promoted steak grilled taquitos in a TV ad launched at the Super Bowl XLI featuring two lions debating the proper pronunciation of carne asada.

Can you smell that? Yeah the campers. I like the guy on the right. No no the steak grilled tacquitos. The carne asada. Carne asada. It’s fun to say… carrrrne asada. Carne asada. No… think sexy… carrrrne asada. Carne Asada. No… sexy… like Ricardo MontalbanCarne Asada. Ricardo Montalban? The voiceover: (Ricardo Montlban) “Taco Bell’s New Steak Grilled Tacquitos with Carne Asada steak. Authentic Carrrne Asada. Think outside the bun.”

The Taco Bell Lions advertising campaign was developed at DraftFCB, Chicago, by chief creative officer Tom O’Keefe, creative director Chris D’AMico, art director Teddy Brown, copywriter Cooper Olson, agency producer Tom Anderson, account director Leila Cesario.

Filming was directed by Chuck Bennett, via Big Lawn Films, Santa Monica, with director of photography Mark Plummer.

Editing was done by Tiffany Burchard with Filmcore, and Jim Staskauskas with Optimus.

Mouth animation VFX was done at Animal Spots, Pittsburgh, by executive producer Kathy Dziubek, animation supervisors Michael Killen and Jim Kreitzburg.

Visual background compositing/VFX was done at Sight Effects by executive producer Melissa Davies.

Telecine was done at Company 3 and Riot, Santa Monica.
