The Defy spot was created at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam, by creative directors Mark Hunter and Alvaro Sotomayor, art director Paulo Martins, copywriter Oliver Frank, agency producers Elissa Singstock and Veronika Kaufmann, assistant producer Orlando Wood and account executive Patricia Cerda.

Martins and Frank describe this ad (Best Ads on TV) as a silent anthem to the ultimate in athletic performance, the moment of being airborne. “It is all about getting your feet up in the air, laughing Newton in the face, while turning his world upside down, making the sky your ground.”

Filming was directed by Joaquin Baca-Asay (also director of photography) via Park Pictures, L.A, with producer Lalou Dammond. Baca-Asay was director of photography for the Sony Bravia Balls ad.

Editor was Adam Pertofsky at Rock Paper Scissors, L.A, who host Nike Defy as a quicktime video. Post-Production was done at The Whitehouse, London and The Mill, London.

Sound was designed at Grand Central Studios, London. Music was composed at Human Worldwide.
