Nedbank Solar Power To The People
South African bank Nedbank has won the Cannes Outdoor Grand Prix this year with a solar powered billboard, “Power To The People”, that supplies power to the school in whose grounds it stands. The power from the billboard’s 10 solar panels provide energy for a kitchen that supplies 1100 hot meals a day, saving the school R2300 a month in electricity charges. The billboard’s solar-powered batteries provide the electricity to light it up at night.
The Nedbank campaign was developed by NET#WORK BBDO, Johannesburg by executive creative directors Julian Watt and Mike Schalit, copywriter Brad Reilly, art director Jonathan Santana, producer Clinton Mitri, account supervisor Caree Ferrari, with Nedbank marketing director Greg Gardens.
