Advertising agency Host did their bit for Christmas cheer in Australia this year with Mr Whitty Sings Christmas, a personalised Christmas card service (or human jukebox) for the Web 2.0 generation.
Mr Whitty, a crusty (and at times rusty) singer/keyboard player, was stationed in the Host foyer in Surry Hills, Sydney, between 9 am and 3.30 pm each day the week before Christmas, responding to requests. His rendition of classic Christmas carols was supplemented by dramatic re-enactments in the background, with Host and Viocorp staff playing characters such as elves, Santa, Rudolph, Elvis, Mary and Joseph.
Mr Whitty has now left the building but he’s left behind a taste of the action at www.mrwhittysingschristmas.com.au and the TrishFab YouTube channel.
Here’s a re-enactment of the birth of Jesus (a Little Britain doll) with Elvis as Joseph & a cross-dressing Mary, sent to Holly from Julie, to the tune of Ding Dong Merrily on High.
