HP continues the “Computer Is Personal Again” campaign with this spot featuring French film director Michel Gondry. Michel provides the voiceover in his French accent: “I love experimenting with film, animation or digital effects. I use my computer to connect these three worlds. What else do I do? I play with images. I transform photos people send me then email them back. What a mess! My computer needs a major. My son does amazing paintings. I photograph them so I can put them on his web site. I play music too. I even did the music for this commercial on my computer. I get online to see how many hits I get and how many hits other people get too. It’s funny… I dream a lot but I am not a very good sleeper.”
The Michel Gondry spot was developed for HP at Goodby Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco by creative directors Steve Goldblatt, Mike McKay, Rich Silverstein, Steve Simpson and agency producers Josh Reynolds and Vicki Tripp.
Filming was directed by Olivier Gondry, Michel’s older brother, via Partizan (USA) with producer Valerie Romer and director of photography Tim Ives. The spot was the last commercial produced by Partizan New York before Gondry switched to Paranoid for US representation. Partizan continues to rep Gondry in Europe.
Editor was Olivier Gajan at Jigsaw Editorial.
Post Production was done at Eight VFX, Santa Monica.
Original music was, in fact, composed by Michel Gondry.
