Vodafone Shine A Light on Football

Vodafone‘s connection with the soccer season was expressed in “Football – How Are You?”, a celebration of the mobile phone in international soccer. Soccer fans are shown with Vodafone products while text messages are typed on to the screen.

Crowd in Vodafone Soccer TV Ad

The 30 second Vodafone football spot starts with a crowd in a stadium cheering on their team, dressed in red and white. “Passions run high and the game goes on”. The spot shows the post-game post mortem and moves to a large television in a living room. A man with silver hair applies red and white face paint. “A whole life time”. In the busy traffic a message is sent through SMS. “What’s the score?” It’s 3:2. In the public toilets, men talk on their cell phones. “And how are our boys doing?”. Soccer footage is shown on a mobile phone screen. A young boy in red waits outside a stadium. “What’s worse than losing? Not being in on the action?” He runs through the turnstiles, evading the ticket salesman. The voiceover: “If that’s what you need, we’re here to help. Vodafone. How are you?”. Lyrics for Shine A Light

Let’s go outside, we’ll go for a ride
for a day or two.
Let’s go outside, the air is open wide
and the weather’s bright for you.

Something I would do
is shine a light on you
and the light would shine
baby, all the time.

We look to the sky, an ocean of design,
and find a lucky star.
Look to the sky and baby get a notion
of the ocean that you are.

Something I would do
is shine a light on you
and the light would shine
baby, all the time.

Jupiter, shine on her:
Get to know her could take some time.
And I know it coule take some time, man
Jupiter, my mind’s on her:
And I know it coule take some time, yeah.
And I know I could make some time, man.

Next time you find that you can’t make
your mind up
like you ought to do
let’s go outside, open yp your eyes
and let the sun shine into you.

Something I would do
is shine a light on you
and the light would shine
baby, all the time.
