Australian model Elle MacPherson became the public face for Breakthrough Breast Cancer‘s Fashion Targets Breast Cancer UK campaign in 2004. Macpherson appeared in magazines, on billboards, bus stops and bus sides, in the London underground and on specially wrapped Smartcars. The 10th Anniversary Fashion Targets Breast Cancer T-Shirts can be purchased at Fashion Targets UK. Copy for the poster includes a range of sponsors and the text, “Hit. Don’t Miss This Year’s Look”.
The Fashion Targets Breast Cancer movement was started in the USA by fashion designer Ralph Lauren after his friend and fashion editor of the Washington Post, Nina Hyde, died of breast cancer in 1990. The campaign was launched during New York Fashion week in 1994. Two years later the campaign reached the UK.
